SAG commentary

No deal yet between SAG and the studios. This commentary explores why:

  1. I totally agree with everything you've said about the current situation. I had the chance to sit down with the National VP of AFTRA recently, and he echoed several of your concerns.
    Membership First is most likely doing more harm to its cause than good.

    I guess I'm just a little frustrated still, that blame always seemes to be placed on the heads of the guilds exclusively, rather than with both the guilds AND producers. The producers purposely waited out the WGA strike to kill contracts, before sitting down to negotiate in good faith. Where was the outcry there?

    There's always a cursory "And the AMPTP is standing firm", but it's always the guild that "needs to back down and compromise".

    I do agree to a point, but after getting burned time and time again on things like home video, cable, DVD, video games, etc. I can see why they don't want to back down on "new" media.

    I just wish they could play their hand smarter, rather than louder...
